For the last six months the Oxford Concert Party (Isabel Knowland and aRne Richards) has led a cross-arts project on the theme of migration, working in schools, in Campsfield and with refugee groups. Our starting point was the recognition that trade and travel, immigration and emigration have played a pivotal role in western culture. The project has involved music, visual art, story-telling and poetry.
The culmination of the project will be on Sunday 25th June in Bonn Square, Oxford, 12 - 4pm, when we are intending to build a community installation of hundreds of paper boats, representing trade and travel and also commemorating those who have perished in the Mediterranean.
